Their headache

They have 2,300 employees and despite having a fixed lifespan of three years for computers, their IT policy was rarely followed. Employee and franchisee computers were frequently used for up to eight to nine years and it was only when the equipment broke down or became unrepairable that it was replaced by a new device. Broken units were scrapped and sent to landfill, and the whole disposal process was neither fully secure, nor did it meet environmental standards.

Alongside this, their lack of overview meant they lacked control over what equipment they had acquired, who was using it, and exactly where it was located. Tracking of their IT portfolio was done via manually-edited Excel spreadsheets, and these were resource-intensive for the IT department as they required regular updates.

Because of the length of time that Nobia would typically use their computers, their IT support costs were often high, but by integrating our Technology Lifecycle Management to their business, they’ve benefitted greatly.

How we helped

Our insights help them to prevent crashes and other resource-intensive challenges caused by defective equipment, and they’re notified when equipment needs to be replaced, which all reduces the risk of breakdown and which has already contributed to reduced downtime and support needed from IT.

Our asset management system, Asset NG, provides them with real insight and clarity of their entire IT portfolio, and this covers the units previously acquired by the company as well as the units financed through us.

And, as part of our collaboration, Nobia has established regular collection of their used equipment through our REstepIT service. This ensures that they receive certified and auditable data sanitization on all their devices and that the devices are safely repurposed for a second life, or recycled where absolutely necessary.
